About us
Tasks and objectives
ASEW is an association of local utilities throughout Germany. In 1989 ASEW was founded in Cologne, Germany. It is a subsidiary of the VKU (association of communal enterprises). At present ASEW has more than 260 members. The objectives of ASEW are the advancement of rational use of water and energy.
During the past 20 years since the foundation of ASEW local utilities had to adapt to significant legal changes. As a result, local utilities are no more only suppliers of energy and water, but future-oriented providers of energy-services. ASEW supports its members to implement these laws and regulations.
The objektives of ASEW are to
- advance sustainable energy and water usage
- protect the environment
- ensure that our members obtain the latest knowledge
- inform about new developments and laws and make them transparent
To achieve these objectives ASEW is providing a wide range of products and services to its members.
Energy efficiency
The rational use of energy is one of the core competences of ASEW. We look back on 15 years of experience - since our foundation we work in the field of efficient energy use.
With a wide range of products and services, market analyses and a large number of training courses we make sure that our members always keep a step ahead. ASEW reacts fast on new political demands with well-founded background information for its members. In pur training courses employees of ASEW members learn about the latest technical and legal changes in the field of energy efficiency, for example heating engineering, lighting and ventilation, so they can hand on this knowledge to their customers.
We support our members with brochures and publications, for example our series "Spar Energie -wir zeigen wie" (Save energy - we show how). These brochures can be used for customer consulting to sensitise customers for energy efficiency.
ASEW also developed new instruments to advance the topic of energy efficiency, with e.g. internet support for support programmes or online-lectures. As further support we have a Stop-Stand-by-Information-Mobile which we rent to our customers for mobile campaigns and events.
The ASEW work results in a triple profit
- for our members: an environmentally-conscious and innovative enterprise assures its market position in times of dwindling becoming resources,
- for the consumers: less energy use means less costs,
- for the environment: more energy saving measures lead to reduced emissions of carbon dioxide.
